PhantomWallet

Phantom Wallet: Your home for trading, predictions and more

The Phantom app gives every new recovery phrase exactly 12 or  words, and those 12 or 24 words are the only way back in if you lose your device. This guide explains what the Phantom Wallet is and what it can do first. Then it walks through the steps for downloading, creating an account, logging in, resetting a password and restoring a wallet.

What Is the Phantom Wallet?

A Solana wallet at heart, Phantom started out on Solana and now runs as a mobile app on iOS and Android plus a browser extension. It is built by Phantom Technologies, Inc., and it is self custodial.

Self custodial: A setup where only you hold the keys that move your funds. The company behind the app cannot freeze, reverse or recover your crypto.

Phantom app balances are not stored inside the Phantom Wallet at all. According to the official help center, your tokens sit on each blockchain, and only your keys can move them.

Key Features of the Phantom Wallet

The Phantom app does far more than send and receive SOL. Here is what the current version includes:

  • Swaps and bridges across supported networks, with a 0.85% fee on most swaps plus network fees
  • Perps, predictions and tokenized stocks, which are blocked in some countries and regions
  • SOL staking and NFT management, with spam NFTs hidden automatically
  • Ledger support on both the extension and the mobile app
  • A username, the @handle people use to send you Cash or find you in chats

Perps: Short for perpetual futures, contracts that let you bet on a price moving up or down with no expiry date. They can be liquidated fast, so beginners should keep positions small.

Phantom extension and app installs cost nothing. The cost shows up when you trade, since a $1,000 swap at the 0.85% rate means $8.50 in the company fee alone, before any network fee.

Which Networks Does the Phantom Wallet Support?

Solana wallet users get Solana plus Ethereum, Base, Polygon, Bitcoin, HyperEVM, Robinhood Chain, Arc and BNB Chain in one app. BNB Chain, like Ethereum and Base, is an EVM network.

EVM: The Ethereum Virtual Machine, a shared standard used by Ethereum, Base, Polygon and BNB Chain. These networks share one address format, but tokens never jump between them on their own.

Phantom extension users still cannot reach Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche, Unichain or Linea. Custom networks cannot be added by hand either, so check the list before you send anything.

Recent Phantom Wallet Network Changes

Phantom app support has shifted a lot lately. Two networks were added and two were removed:

DateChangeWhat it means for you
July 23, 2026Robinhood Chain addedHold, send, swap and bridge on Robinhood Chain
August 26, 2026Monad support endedMonad balances no longer show in the app
September 24, 2026Sui support endedSui balances no longer show or move in the app
October 1, 2026BNB Chain addedUpdate the app to hold, send and swap BNB Chain tokens

Phantom login details still work for those old Sui and Monad balances. The coins never left their own blockchains, so importing the same recovery phrase into a Sui or Monad compatible wallet brings them back.

How to Download Phantom Wallet

Phantom extension downloads should start at phantom.com/download. That page lists Chrome, Brave and Edge for desktop, plus iOS and Android for phones.

  1. Open the official download page and choose your browser.
  2. On the Chrome Web Store listing, check that the publisher is Phantom, then click Add to Chrome.
  3. Pin the ghost icon to your toolbar so it is easy to find.
  4. On a phone, tap the App Store or Google Play link from that same page instead of searching the store.

Phantom login pages are favorite bait for copycats. While researching this post, I found several look alike setup guides hosted on a free course platform and on Google Sites, each with “phantom” in the web address, plus forum spam listing a fake support phone number. The official help center offers chat only and warns that support will never DM you or ask for your recovery phrase.

Phantom Wallet App vs Extension

Solana wallet holders often run both, and each has a different job.

How to Create a Phantom Wallet Account

Phantom app setup gives you two routes: sign in with Google or Apple, or generate a 12 or 24 word Secret Recovery Phrase. Pick carefully, because you cannot link an email to an existing Phantom Wallet that uses a phrase.

Secret Recovery Phrase: The 12 or 24 words generated when you create a wallet. Anyone holding them controls your funds, and the company cannot look them up or replace them.

Create a Phantom Wallet With Google or Apple

  1. Click the Phantom icon in your browser toolbar.
  2. In the new tab, click Create a New Wallet, then Continue with Email.
  3. Choose Apple or Google and sign in.
  4. Set a password of at least eight characters. It opens the wallet in this browser only.
  5. Claim your username.

Phantom app users on a phone tap Continue with Apple or Continue with Google on the welcome screen instead. Set the four digit PIN if asked, since it restores the wallet every time you sign in again.

Create a Phantom Wallet With a Recovery Phrase

  1. Click Create a New Wallet and choose the recovery phrase option instead of email.
  2. Set your password on the extension, or turn on Face ID or fingerprint in the app.
  3. Write the 12 words on paper, in the exact order shown.
  4. Store that paper somewhere offline, then continue.

Solana wallet veterans tend to prefer the phrase. A Google or Apple Phantom Wallet still has a recovery phrase behind it, though, and exporting it once gives you a second way back in.

How Phantom Wallet Login Works

Phantom login happens on your device. No company server checks a username and password, so you simply open the app or extension where your Phantom Wallet already lives.

  • Browser extension: type the password you set in that browser.
  • Mobile app: use Face ID, fingerprint or your passcode, if you turned it on.
  • New device with a Google or Apple wallet: sign in with the same account and enter your PIN.
  • Websites: click the connect button on the site, then approve the request inside the wallet.

Phantom extension passwords do not carry over to your phone. Each install keeps its own lock, so changing the password in Chrome changes nothing in the app.

What to Do If You Forget Your Phantom Wallet Password

Phantom login passwords cannot be reset by support, because they never leave your device. The fix is to wipe the install and restore the Phantom Wallet with your original credentials.

  1. Find your backup first: the 12 or 24 word phrase, or your Google or Apple account plus PIN.
  2. If the wallet still opens, go to Settings > Security & Privacy > Reset App and choose Continue.
  3. If you are locked out completely, remove the extension or delete the app, then install it again from the official page.
  4. Restore the wallet with the steps below and set a new password.

Solana wallet owners with no backup at all are stuck here (and no, the “support number” on that forum post cannot help).

How to Import or Restore a Phantom Wallet

Phantom extension and app restores both begin on the welcome screen. If you are already signed in, reset or reinstall first.

Restore a Phantom Wallet on the Extension

  1. Click the Phantom icon so a new tab opens.
  2. Click I Already Have a Wallet, then Import Recovery Phrase.
  3. Enter your words and click Import Wallet.
  4. Create a new password for this browser.

Phantom login with Google or Apple uses Connect Email Wallet at step 2 instead, followed by your PIN.

Restore a Phantom Wallet on Mobile

  1. Open the app and tap More Options.
  2. Tap Import Recovery Phrase, enter the words, then tap Import.
  3. Turn on Face ID or fingerprint if you want quick access.

Phantom app restores from a phrase to bring back every account with past activity. You can also use Import Private Key, but that returns just one address on one network.

Private key: A secret string that controls a single address. One recovery phrase can produce many private keys, which is why it restores more.

Simple Phantom Wallet Safety Habits

Solana wallet losses usually start with a phishing link, a fake download or a careless approval. Four habits cover most of the risk:

  • Keep the recovery phrase on paper. No screenshots, no cloud notes.
  • Copy addresses from the receive screen or the sender, never from your transaction history, where attackers plant look alike addresses.
  • Read every approval before you sign, and ignore surprise NFTs that point to websites.
  • Turn on auto lock and keep larger balances on a Ledger connected to the wallet.

Is the Phantom Wallet Right for You?

Phantom app users who live mostly on Solana and want Ethereum, Base or Bitcoin on the same screen will feel at home. Setup takes minutes, and the Google or Apple route is friendlier than most wallets offer.

Phantom extension users who need Arbitrum, Optimism or Avalanche should keep a second wallet. The real downside is churn: Sui holders got 31 days’ notice before the Phantom Wallet dropped their network, so a network you rely on today may need a new home later.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Phantom Wallet free?

Phantom app downloads are free. You pay network fees on transactions and a 0.85% fee on most in app swaps.

Does the Phantom Wallet still support Sui?

Solana wallet users lost Sui support when it ended on September 24, 2026. Your Sui coins remain on the chain, and importing the same recovery phrase into a Sui compatible wallet shows them again.

How many words is a Phantom Wallet recovery phrase?

Phantom extension and app wallets use 12 words. You can still import a 24 word phrase from another app if it follows the BIP39 standard.

Can Phantom Wallet support recover my password?

Phantom login help cannot recover passwords or phrases, because the company never stores them. Reinstall, then restore with your phrase or your Google or Apple account plus PIN.

What happens if I enter the wrong Phantom Wallet PIN too many times?

Phantom app wallets created with Google or Apple delete the encrypted backup on that device after seven wrong attempts. After that, recovery works only from another signed in device or an exported recovery phrase.
